I recently purchased matching alabaster sconces for my living room that added an artful, modern touch.
Alabaster is going mainstream and I am here for it. This revered stone is no longer reserved for Italianeque mansions and antique collectors. Heavy hitters like Crate & Barrel are now supplying this prized material to the masses. With its milky, feathery texture, it has an inviting and unassuming quality to it — much different than its marble counterpart which tends to be bold, stark and veiny. It’s calming appearance and warm tones make it very palatable and easy to layer in to any design. Alabaster is a soft stone and highly translucent, so you will see it mostly in lighting applications or decorative objects, however I came across some furniture pieces which I tagged below in the investment section.
